PROGRAM DARMASISWA

“DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to foreign students from countries with diplomatic relations with Indonesia to study Language, Arts, and Culture. Participants can choose one of the preferred universities located in various cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu).

The DARMASISWA program began in 1974 as part of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) initiative, which initially only accepted students from ASEAN. However, in 1976, the program was expanded to include students from other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and the United States. In the early 1990s, the program was further expanded to include all countries with diplomatic relations with Indonesia. To date, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 135.

The main objective of the DARMASISWA program is to promote and increase interest in the Indonesian language and culture among youth from other countries. It is also designed to provide stronger cultural relations and understanding among participating countries.

This guidebook is designed to provide comprehensive information about the selection process for new students of the DARMASISWA program at Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya. We hope that through this guidebook, the selection process for new DARMASISWA students at Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya will run smoothly, enabling new students to be well-prepared to participate in the Bachelor’s degree program at Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya.
